♫ Galette, the best a tart can get. ♫ Since joining Tuesdays with Dorie over a year ago, I have had my eye on this recipe. It's no secret that I love limes and all their relatives, but I've been waiting for something to turn me into a cranberry lover, and I think this recipe has done just that. It has a quirky sophistication that I immediately fell in love with.
I think that cranberries always came off as being slightly bitter and, quite frankly, snobby. They seemed to take themselves too seriously, refusing to cooperate with other flavours and hoarding the spotlight. That is until Dorie came along. I can honestly say, that this in by far one of my favorite Tuesdays with Dorie recipes. The lime and the cranberries play off each other beautifully, with a chopped apple acting as the sweet diplomat. The crust is the perfect backdrop for the the gorgeous setting. It's buttery, flakiness helps cut the assertiveness of the lime and cranberries. Meanwhile, the soft heat of the ginger keeps things interesting, warm, and suitable to serve on blustery cold, late-autumn nights.
Thank you to Whitney, April, and Elizabeth, of Celestial Confections, for picking this week's recipe. Ladies, this was such a great choice! For the recipe, please visit their lovely blog by clicking here. You may also visit the other Tuesdays with Dorie members by clicking here!
