Autumn is the perfect season for brownies...brownies, favourite books and Simon & Garfunkel. Fresh ginger-infused brownies are an ideal match for a cozy novel and a weathered chair. I rarely make a recipe more than once, but these rich, moist brownies were worth another visit.
I just finished re-reading Audrey Niffenegger's The Time Traveler's Wife for the second time, hoping that if I read slow enough, there would be a sequel by the time I was finished. It didn't work. For as much as I love to read, I'm not very good at getting over books. It feels like a breakup. When I'm finished reading, I'm not ready to move on for a while. My mind remains trapped somewhere within that book for several days (sometimes weeks), and just like any good relationship, there are no replacements or substitutes for the void that's left. But in between peppy bites of these gingery brownies, I decided that it's time to find a new novel to fall in love with. Any ideas?
