Carla, of the adorable blog Chocolate Moosey, chose the chocolate-crunched caramel tart for this week's Tuesdays with Dorie recipe. She has a some sinful looking rocky road brownies which I have added to my ever growing list of things to bake!
The September 2009 Daring Bakers' challenge was hosted by Steph of A Whisk and a Spoon. She chose the French treat, Vols-au-Vent based on the Puff Pastry recipe by Michel Richard from the cookbook Baking With Julia by Dorie Greenspan.
When I joined The Daring Bakers I knew that I was going to be creating amazing things that I never imagined my oven and I could bake, But I had no idea how much fun I was going to have along the way.
It was my birthday today, so I did what any obsessed baker would do. I baked my own cake. I really need my arm twisted in order to bake anything. Actually, I don't make layer cakes very often. They are so beautiful and they have that wonderful texture that comes with layers of filling sandwiched between layers of cake.
Flaky Apple Turnovers (TWD)
Julie, of Someone's in the Kitchen, picked these amazing apple turnovers for this week's Tuesdays with Dorie recipe.
This recipe scared me at first. Several friends of mine love apple turnovers, Almost to the same obsessive degree that I love lemons.
