Is anyone else ridiculously excited about the Olympics? The opening ceremonies are about to start in a few hours and I cannot wait! I've been lucky enough to travel through most of Europe, but my passport is still missing a stamp from London... I have a feeling that the games will only fuel an already overflowing desire to visit the breathtaking, historic city.

I love happy reunions. (Not those awkward, Holiday-induced family reunions -- the kind that force us to sit with people who don't share our political viewpoints whilst they look at me you with saccharin-laced "Oh, but you're still single," glances.)  Just the happy reunions...they're my absolute favorite.

Today, after almost 10 sweltering days, my oven and I met over dessert.

Because I can easily inhale several bowls in one sitting, I try not to eat pasta very often. So if I know that I'm going to turn into a whiny, lethargic sloth for several hours, I like to be prepared. This preparation includes lots of strategically placed pillows on the living room floor, a few favourite movies (Thank you, Netflix, for being the best invention since pay-at-the-pump), and of course, any dessert that's just as coma inducing as pasta.

It's been far too hot to turn on the oven (that's just a fact, not a complaint), so I haven't baked anything in almost a week. Luckily I have a few extra photos and recipes that are just begging to be shared.

I really hope that you're not getting sick of chocolate chip cookie posts. (Never mind all the lemon recipes. That's a refreshing, endless ocean I don't mind drowning in...and taking you down with me. ♥) I know cookies sometimes accidentally wander into Been-there, Done-that's, territory, but I promise to always try and keep things interesting in the realm of Cookiedom.

These cookies might not scream 4th of July but once you bite into one, I don't think that you (or your guests) will mind too much.

I'm drawn to anything that has an interesting name, which is why I always get into trouble when I'm bored with myself and feel like trying a new hair color. Champagne cocktail sounds a lot lovelier than it actually looks, especially on a brunette. (Yes, I plead ignorance when it comes to reading labels and checking the swatches.)
