Swiss Roll Ice Cream Bombe (Daring Bakers' Challenge)

July 27, 2010

"Do you think because you are virtuous, that there shall be no more cakes and ale?" (Twelfth Night: act 2, scene 3)

2 posts in one day?! At least the desserts were made separately, otherwise there would be teeth falling out and zippers refusing to be pulled up. Thank you, floss obsession, Mari Winsor and Billy Blanks.

Tuesdays with Dorie: Chewy, Chunky Blondies

Sometimes a cookie just isn't enough, you need to sink your teeth into something more substantial. Enter the classic blondie. They are basically pudgy, pimped out cookies.

Cinnamon Croissant Rolls

After much deliberation and erratically indecisive behavior, I finally landed on a recipe to christen my new KitchenAid and cook book with.

My new toy!

July 21, 2010

Isn't she lovely? Her name is Lola. I wanted to get a full shot of her but she's too big to fit into the frame of my point and shoot camera (as it is, this photo looks like it was taken by my cat.) But I don't care. I have a KitchenAid stand mixer!

Tuesdays with Dorie: Lot's of ways Banana Cake

July 20, 2010

Is it crazy to be obsessed with a baking pan? A mini bundt cake pan to be exact. Seriously, if I could make cookies, pies, pasta, and salad in this thing, I would. Everything goes into it's softly rounded contours, come out so beautifully.

Blackberry Crumb Bars

July 14, 2010

Tuesday's episode of The Deadliest Catch was, emotionally speaking, the most dramatic so far. Anyone who watches the show is familiar with Captain Phil Harris. His larger than life personality, and even larger heart, will be greatly missed.

Tuesdays with Dorie: Brrr-ownies

July 13, 2010

Congratulations, Spain!! I'm sad that the World Cup is over (how boring to think of going back to the usual sports...please catch on here, futball.) South Africa was a wonderful host country. Thank you!

Colossal Chocolate Chip Cookies

July 6, 2010

Am I above using chocolate chip cookies as bargaining tools to draw in new visitors? Not at all.

Tuesdays with Dorie: Tarte Noire

Silky, chocolate. Simplicity meets decadence, and you wish everything in life could be as harmonious. The photos are not very handsome representations of this particular dessert. My little point & shoot camera fell into a slice of cake.
