♫ Galette, the best a tart can get. ♫ Since joining Tuesdays with Dorie over a year ago, I have had my eye on this recipe. It's no secret that I love limes and all their relatives, but I've been waiting for something to turn me into a cranberry lover, and I think this recipe has done just that. It has a quirky sophistication that I immediately fell in love with.
I think that cranberries always came off as being slightly bitter and, quite frankly, snobby. They seemed to take themselves too seriously, refusing to cooperate with other flavours and hoarding the spotlight. That is until Dorie came along. I can honestly say, that this in by far one of my favorite Tuesdays with Dorie recipes. The lime and the cranberries play off each other beautifully, with a chopped apple acting as the sweet diplomat. The crust is the perfect backdrop for the the gorgeous setting. It's buttery, flakiness helps cut the assertiveness of the lime and cranberries. Meanwhile, the soft heat of the ginger keeps things interesting, warm, and suitable to serve on blustery cold, late-autumn nights.
Thank you to Whitney, April, and Elizabeth, of Celestial Confections, for picking this week's recipe. Ladies, this was such a great choice! For the recipe, please visit their lovely blog by clicking here. You may also visit the other Tuesdays with Dorie members by clicking here!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous as always. I've been trying to get my head around cranberries too. I find them bitter too except when dried and sweetened but then they are too sweet.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm in love love love with the Peanut Butter Nutella cookies.
A splendid galette! That combination is terrific.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Rosa
Your tart looks great Valerie - very beautiful. I liked the flavour mix too, although I had to use raspberries instead of cranberries.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you wrote about this tart. I've never been a cranberry fan either, but now I'm going to give this recipe a try.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, your photos look fantastic! Is that the new camera at work?
Thanks, Beth!
ReplyDeleteThe photos were taken with the new camera. There are still a few buttons that I have no idea how to use, but so far it's not too bad for a point and shoot. :-)
OH my, what a lovely tart and a lovely description to match. Glad you liked it so.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are amazing! Glad you enjoyed the cranberries this time around. I thought the lime and cranberries complimented each other surprisingly well.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you turned the crust into a regular tart rather than a fold-over. Beautiful, Valerie! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful as a tart! I really liked this.
ReplyDeleteOh no--you've gone to the cranberry side! Maybe if someone served me a tart this beautiful I would too.

It really was surprising how all of the flavor can together in this tart. Your photos are gorgeous.

Wow, it looks great as a tart. Gorgeous crust.
ReplyDeleteI never even saw that ginger was one of the ingredients. Huh.
Wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have thought to pair lime with cranberries (I'd usually go for orange) but this sounds really good, and I love lime, so I think I'll have to try this.
Oh my, Valerie! I LOVE that there is ginger in this tart!! Mmm, I have a bag of cranberries at home, waiting for something lovely to be done with them. I think I'll have to do this. :-)
ReplyDeleteI think cranberries are snobby too, and I'm, frankly, so tired of their arrogance;-) I'm glad you tamed them with a bit of help from Dorie.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I would eat a lot of this by the way...
