Even though I may not watch the grass grow, or a pot of water come to a boil, I am obsessed with
Pies are a bit boring to watch because they have no real story to tell. But brownies transform from a luxuriously deep chocolate batter to an equally luxurious crackly-topped, fudgy deity. Brownies speak to me. They tell me when they're ready to be removed from the oven. Cakes...well let's just say that we're still working through some sticky issues.
There are so many brownie recipes in Dorie Greenspan's book, and yet each has it's own unique, irresistible charm. Just as the title indicates, these svelte brownies are intense, deep, and sophisticated. A milk-filled wine glass is a must for this recipe.
It's hard to believe, but this is the last brownie recipe for Tuesdays with Dorie...the bittersweet title appropriate in more ways than one. Luckily we still have a few more weeks left before the final, Final recipe. It's been an amazing run so far, and I almost wish that there was a hidden "Harry Potter"-style chapter somewhere.
This week's Tuesdays with Dorie recipes were chosen by Leslie, of Lethally Delicious and Jessica, of Cookbook Habit. If you would like the brownie recipe (and why wouldn't you?), please visit Leslie's blog. Jessica's pick was an Alsatian apple tart. (Something I hope to make very soon.) You can find the tart recipe on Jessica's blog.
Thank you Leslie and Jessica, for two excellent picks! Chocolate and apples are delicious, and, if I'm not mistaken, quite healthy too. :D
Your brownies look terrific, and I'm sure many of you are feeling quite bittersweet at being close to the end of the book. I hope you have something special planned for the last TWD post!
ReplyDeleteI love that you serve your milk in a wine glass. :-) I do the same thing and it makes the brownie-eating event even better. :-)
ReplyDeleteCette gourmandise est toujours la bienvenue

Fun post! I am an oven peeker as well. Just cannot let it sit there all alone!!!
ReplyDeleteBrownies look amazing. Your photos are always so lovely.
The pictures show the great texture your brownies had - looks extremely delicious!
ReplyDeleteI love brownies almost as much as I love oven-watching! Make some souffles and you may find yourself in front of the window with that mojito in hand...
ReplyDeleteI love the look of your brownies - so deep and dark and fudgy. I kinda like watching things bake too - I turn the oven light on and off to facilitate watching cakes rise.
ReplyDeleteThe brownies look so amazing. Look irresistible. Yummy!
